Posted on gregory vanover My installer Mark did an excellent job very neat and professionally done cleaned up everything when finished, I highly recommend Butler Heating and Air as your go to company for services and replacement equipment I give them a 10 out of 10 ratingPosted on Mark Amspaugh In December I contacted Butler Heating and Air for a new heat pump and water heater, I couldn't be more satisfied with the workmanship and the product that was installed, with this recent snow storm and cold temperatures my system has been flawless excellent job and thank you. I won't hesitate to recommend Butler Heating and air for all Heating and cooling needsPosted on B Howard I recently purchased a home with an older heat pump that Butler had installed. My home inspector happened to have owned an HVAC company for 30 years and, during the inspection, he assured me that the heat pump, while older, was in decent shape & operable for at least the near term (next few years). My home needs a lot of other improvements so a new heat pump would have significantly changed my situation. I called Butler after closing on the home for an autumn check on the unit. Before Butler's technician had even entered my home, he was already complaining that the unit was old & should probably be replaced. At every step of the way, he huffed & puffed and said that I should probably just replace it with a new unit. He diagnosed the system with a leak in the evaporator coil and reported that one of the doors on the pump was "frozen shut". He said that the unit was very low on coolant & the amount it would take to just repair, if even possible, should be invested in a new unit. He then reluctantly said he could try to identify the coil leak for another $250 (on top of the $150 I paid for the autumn tune-up). I told him to go ahead with attempting to identify the leak & I was not prepared to just casually agree to a new unit. Within 30 seconds, he identified the location of the leak and again pushed a new unit. He came back with an estimate of $2k-$3k just to repair it. I agreed to hear a quote for a replacement & paid the technician almost $400 FOR DOING ESSENTIALLY NOTHING. **He then said it shouldn't even be used until it's replaced!!!!** Magically, a salesperson was able to come that afternoon for quotes for a new unit. The price? $10,500-$13,500k, but hey - great financing options! (eyeroll) I called another local HVAC company for a 2nd opinion. They disagreed vehemently with Butler's technician. Yes, the coolant was low, but it was 'negligible' and they otherwise wouldn't have even mentioned it. Yes, there is a leak in the evaporator coil, but there is a leak stopping agent that can be used as a first attempt to seal it. They also recommended a new thermostat as mine is older & doesn't encourage the best efficiency from heat pumps. The cost to refill the coolant, apply the leak sealant & a new thermostat? $450. They then recommended a check in the high heat of summer to check the coolant/leak status...if it's still leaking, they can replace the coil (~$1k). If that doesn't work after another check, they replace just the furnace. In that order of escalation...they recommended not replacing my "very professionally installed" heat pump unless absolutely necessary as it's a very solid unit similar to how you keep an old Toyota or Honda going because they're workhorses and the newer units can be finicky & have issues. Oh, and he has no idea what Butler's technician was talking about - there were no doors or access panels on the heat pump that were 'frozen shut'. TLDR: Be VERY wary of the hard sell tactics of Butler & at least get a 2nd opinion before agreeing to it. EDITED TO ADD: In response to the CYA response the vendor, I argue that the unit was not down anywhere near the amount of coolant they report. I was shown the read. The unit had not been serviced by your company since 2014 (your tech was FIXATED on this & kept using that like some kind of additional justification), but you say you had sua solid relationship with the previous owner?!?! Cool story. Finally, there was a hard sell. I was there & experienced it. You are trying to defend with no first hand knowledge. Good day.Posted on John L We had the pleasure of working with Keith and Wade Jr. for our heat pump and propane furnace install with new ductwork. Keith was extremely knowledgeable of the system being installed. He was able to answer every technical question I had about the system, which there were a lot of. The install was of extremely high quality, in large part because of Wade's attention to detail. I highly recommend Butler Heating and Air. We are very happy with the great people and the great install!Posted on Tim Minton My business has been nursing along a HVAC system that was really old and unreliable. Finally during the hottest week it died, called my friends at Butler. Had me up and running within days, system is running well now. Thank youPosted on Dave Broadstock Air conditioner died as I was supposed to enter the hospital for two surgeries. I was promised by the salesman that they would keep the old ac running for my wife. Yes it was running. He sent a tech who gave up leaving my wife in the heat for three days! The price paid was on the high end for the unit purchased. If they couldn't keep the old one running I feel like they should have moved the install up as soon as possible. This after spending over $750 trying to limp past my scheduled surgeries. Not happy and I've tried to warn the owner he didn't want my reviewPosted on JEFFREY QUICK Greg correctly determined the issues of my old but big house in Oakwood. The air flow issue was resolved and it heats and cools extremely well now.Posted on Kevin Busarow We needed all three of our 30-year-old rooftop HVAC units replaced. After getting quotes from three HVAC companies, we chose Butler because they had the lowest pricing, and their recommendations made perfect sense. They were very accommodating of our business schedule, most of the work was done over a weekend (when we were closed). Quality of the work was top-notch and I would highly recommend them.Posted on Michael Grenat Excellent company and excellent service. No complaints.Posted on Charmalee Hanson Butler Heating has been an absolute blessing to my home! Because of them our home is now weatherized. We are super thankful and highly recommend their business. Our new furnace is all time efficient and the water heater top notch. I could ask for more professional. They stated what would I be done and did just that.Load more
